Mystic River Bascule Drawbridge

My experience:

This is pretty fascinating to watch. The concrete blocks weigh the same amount as the drawbridge. The operator gives a little “push” toward the desired direction to raise or lower the bridge.

Drivers, be prepared for traffic every 40 minutes after the hour from May – October. (For more information, see photo below.) Pedestrians, due to COVID, be mindful of the one-way direction when crossing the bridge.
