My experience: Sunday, July 5, 2020
We parked in the first lot we saw, but we later realized there’s another large lot directly in front of the visitor’s center. There were a couple trails leading from the lot where we parked to the visitor center and castle. It was a little confusing, but we eventually made it.
The castle is a short walking distance from the visitor center. It has a gorgeous view overlooking the river and hills. I bet it would look amazing during the fall! The castle is impressive. It was the house of William Gillette, an American actor, playwright, and stage-manager, who is most known for his portrayal as Sherlock Holmes. The park normally give tours, but due to COVID-19, they were on hold at this time.
There are a few short trails around the castle, as well. It was a little confusing, too. However, we took one to the river shore. It was really peaceful down there.
Although I’m not sure if I would come back for the trails, I’d be interested in the house tour and visitor center.
